First day of school and effects of monsoon rain

I have to tell about my drive home before I talk about school. Gotta love monsoon season! First, there's the stifling humidity for a few hours. In the midst of this, I was standing outside in the bus circle after school with 2 dozen kids asking me which bus goes where. Yeah, I don't have a clue, and I was never given ANY bus information. Wow, sounds like school is going to be a lot better this year. Fourth graders don't have the attitudes that many eighth graders do (am I right on that, or have things totally changed?).

Yay for a good first day!!! And for the storm. :-) I love them. My route home involves going 7 miles on Cactus, which was slow, but not crawling, but pretty well flooded in some spots. There were some girls standing on a corner holding signs that said, "Splash me." I was amused.

So, forth grade, huh? That actually sounds fun. I got to tutor a 4th grade class my senior year and they were really fun. Obviously, I wasn't the full time teacher and that's a challenge of that own, but at least at that age you can make a real impact. Most of them can still be "interested" in school, or at least taught that school isn't terrible.

I give you so much credit! Jumping 4 grade levels is a HUGE jump and of course your mind will have traces of the 8th grade mindset for a WHILE. But it sounds like you're staying very open and thoughtful about the year and I'm sure it will be fabulous.

Although if it took me an hour to get home from work ANY day I'd be pissed :-P Arizona rain is funny hehe
