I had a newspaper interview today, so I was wearing my Animal Place sweater and t-shirt. Of course, it also happens to be the day I have to pick up 200 lbs of food for my dogs at the raw-dog food co-op (which is really just someone's house in San Francisco). Do you cook the raw dog food or is that a silly and/or stupid question? Do you know of a raw cat food co-op? You've probably already posted about this before, so forgive me, how did you pick this co-op and why did you decide this kind of food was best for your pups? I already know how sketchy companion animal food companies are (although I hope my cats' food is better than most since I pay through the nose for it).

Edit: I'd like to bedazzle Ms. Mina too! And Celeste. She's dorkily irresistible.

It's definitely not a dumb question! The food is raw. Personally, I think cooked is fine; it just means finding a way to incorporate calcium in a different manner than bones (cooking causes splintering ( ... )

I thought I was going to go crazy trying to control my 'bugs' allergies/yeast infections/staph infections until I put them on Solid Gold, which I have to pay a surreal amount to ship from CA to MS. I was one step from trying raw, but I resisted because we travel with them so much I really wanted a dry food I can travel easily with in hotels and other people's houses. That said, we do feed them carefully controlled prepared food as supplements for treats or if Schnapps needs to rebalance some foods related to her liver problem.

I would like to like to read the switching fact sheet. I'm not for or against a raw meat diet for my snuggle muffins, but I definitely need to do more research to make up my mind ( ... )

I really like that photo. It's lovely. I think it might be one of Mina's best.

I also like her collar. A lot.

Mina really is one of the most photogenic dogs I've ever seen. She's got such presence.
