You've read Pride and Prejudice? Somehow I hadn't pegged you for a Jane Austen fan. (hee hee)

Good for you with your 10%!

I've read 52 of them. But then again, they are being judged on their popularity rather than their literary merit ( ... )

The only one on my list I read because I wanted to was the stand. All the rest were for Senior english in high school. Not to say I didn't enjoy a few of them but I wouldn't have read them otherwise.
Why wasn't 1984 on the list?

Wow, we read Macbeth in senior English and some poetry. That was about it.

I have no idea why 1984 wasn't on the list. Take it up with the Brits! They voted on it.

Hahaha, I took AP senior english and had an awesome teacher who really pushed us well for a high school class, I owe her much. Not to say that I'm any good at it now but I'm definately better than I would have been otherwise.

I read macbeth as well.
Our count was 50 books for the year, all classics such as those.
The total of my first 3 years of high school english was probably about 10 total.

That's awesome! I was taking AP English, too, but it was the teacher's first time teaching it. He was the drama teacher, as well, and he was rather obsessed with Macbeth. I swear we looked at that play until nearly Christmas! My HS English education was sorely lacking... Good thing I read a lot on my own!
