cooool! There are only a couple of books on your list that I've read. Only one I didn't like (I no longer own it). But there are more I'd like to read too. You've got a lot more non-fiction than I - but it's stuff I'd be interested in (women's history esp.). Grooaaan, the "want to read" list just keeps getting longer. But I guess we don't have to be in a hurry - nice things, books, they last! :)

When I went to the library today I purposely turned my back to the shelves - didn't bring a bag to fill up. I was thinking of my list and DETERMINED not to borrow any books until I've read at least 3 off my list!

Have you heard of www.bookcrossing.com ?

Which book didn't you like? (I don't actually want to read everything on that list anyway.)

I do have quite a bit of non-fiction... and a lot of it is on the list. Of course, the number of books about the space program I have read far outweighs the number I haven't.

I'm going to read the books I have checked out of the library first, but then I think I will adopt your plan of reading at least three books on my shelves (excluding book club books).

I had not heard of bookcrossing.com. Do you use it?

I don't use bookcrossing, but I do have a couple of "released' books. It's a cool concept!

I've read The Class (Erich Segal is one of my favourite authors and this is my fave of ll. His character studies are fabulous, + he has good historical ref.), Anne Frank (which I loaned out and never got back! argh) Me; Kate Hepburn and of course, Poe. The book I didn't like was House of Sand and Fog. It's unusual for e not to get through a whole book, even if I don't like it, but I only got about halfway through that one. Oh, also, your Mary Stewart book. She's most prolific with her mysteries (yours is one) but I'm not a big fan of those. Her Arthurian series though is FANTASTIC! If you're into Arthur.

I just told my friend Terry that I'm going to give her back her Bronte tome and borrow them singly from the library. I really want to read thm without breaking my wrists! LOL!

I saw the film version of House of Sand and Fog, and I hated it. I was practically spitting nails after it was over because it made me so angry and upset. The book is not really on my to-read list (it was a well-intentioned gift).

I think your Brontë plan is a good one!

If I'm ever in Austin, I'll come over and rob your house :-)

i just read Tracy and Hepburn by Garson Kanin. an anecdotal 'personal' memoir from the famed playwright/screenwriter/director and personal friend of Tracy and Hepburn. some interesting insight into their individual personalities away from the camera and what made them such a powerful on-screen pairing.

Thanks for the rec. Hepburn's autobiography has been sitting on my shelf for an embarrassingly long time, but I do want to read it some day. Kanin's memoir sounds great, too!
