Faintheart in a Railway Station
Sanada Yuma / Nozawa Yuki

Summary: When their 'leader' gets sick, MIS SNOW MAN sends their best man to the plate.
Author's Note: Because what Nozawa said in Wink Up was just too cute. Un-betaed. Title taken from a poem by Thomas Hardy.
近くに真田くんがいてくれて、ホントによかったって思ってるんだ。。。。真田くんがどうおもってるかはわからないけど(笑)。
(I really feel that it’s a good thing having Sanada-kun so close to me. But what Sanada-kun thinks about it… I don’t really know. *laughs*)

They’ve been planning it for months. Getting nine high school boys to go for a trip together was almost logistically impossible, what with school, recording, photo shoots and other commitments (like Watanabe, who liked to tell everyone he needed to spend time with a girlfriend that nobody was sure existed).
Unfortunately, on the actual day, their fearless leader was the one who did not turn up.
“He’s running a terrible fever,” Sanada-mama explained over the phone to Nozawa, as the rest of MIS SNOW MAN crowded around him. “He tried to escape but I wouldn’t let him out of the house. I’m afraid he’d spread the illness to you boys. So just go along without him, and when you get back he’ll be fit as a fiddle again.”
Sanada stayed at home and pouted. His head was pounding, it felt like someone had made him swallow a bucket of slime, and he felt an intense need to regurgitate the breakfast his mother had made him eat that morning. Most of all, he was miserable because he was sick, alone and everyone was going on the spring break holiday he had planned without him.
His phone rang and he picked it up. “Hello?”
“God, you sound terrible.”
“Shut up. I expect you to sympathize,” Sanada said, before blowing his nose.
“Ewww.”
“Well, you’re the one who’s actually on the train to holiday paradise now, and all I’m left with at home is tissues and bland porridge,” Sanada whined. “I’m allowed to be miserable.”
“Yes, yes, you are.”
“Are you even there yet? Are you guys having fun? Why does it sound so funny where you are?” Sanada frowned.
The door to his room opened and he yelped, but Nozawa was standing there, the phone at his ear and a grin on his face. “It sounds funny because you’re listening to yourself, idiot,” he said. “Now you know what we put up with.”
“What…” Sanada stammered as Nozawa tossed his heavy overnight bag on the ground and walked over to the bed. Without another word or regard to how germ-y Sanada was, Nozawa flopped down on the bed and let out a big sigh before closing his eyes. “Nozawa?” Sanada frowned.
“Shut up, I’m tired. I just took the train back and they were all nagging at me and now all I want is peace and quiet okay?” Nozawa said, cracking an eyelid open.
“Okay,” Sanada said quietly, and Nozawa closed his eyes. In a moment his breathing was deep and even. He had fallen asleep.
“Thanks,” Sanada whispered before closing his eyes.
The day after the next, Nozawa kept sneezing during rehearsals with Fukasawa. The manager on duty hovered over him, wondering if he was coming down with the flu…
“Well, whatever he’s down with, we’re sure it’s the result of pure love. After all, he was the one who got off the train halfway and was back in Tokyo in a… ouch!” he squealed, holding onto his hip where Nozawa had just given him a vicious pinch. “Nozawa!”
“Shut up,” Nozawa frowned, as he sneezed again.
