First, an annoucement: While I hate deadlines, having some kind of "post by" goal could be helpful in getting things done. Thus, starting today, I designate this Fanfic Fridays, and plan to post at least one standalone fic every week. I think what I find most fascinating about this atmospheric, moody piece is the way that Jim's mind skates and dances around his relationship with Batman the same way it tends to dance around his theories about who Batman might really be. He doesn't want to know, and so he just doesn't let himself think about it...except he can't stop thinking about it, as that last line captures so well.
