Other stuff first, and more importantly: Hope everyone's safe after those horrible tornadoes. I'm not sure where everyone on my flist is, geographically, but I hope everyone was safely out of the path of those monsters ( Read more... )

Whee! Welcome back to the fandom! :)

Yep, Dick's my Robin, Hal's my GL, and Barry's my Flash. I enjoyed the successors, but the originals are nearest and dearest to my heart. :)

Steve came back in the 1970s, was killed off again, then an AU version of him crashed off Paradise Island (Diana's memory had been wiped of the previous Steve's existence) and they were both winked out of existence during the Crisis On Infinite Earths event in the mid-'80s that blew up the DCU and brought grittier, darker times.

Now Steve is years older after the Perez reboot and married to Etta Candy and was never Diana's romantic interest. *sighs* For a Steve/Diana 'shipper, it's been a long 25 years! Have you seen the Tumblr dedicated to them? It's http://amazonboytoy.com/tumblr. :)

I SO REMEMBER that Lois Lane Imaginary Story! I cried my little eyes out over that. :)

I hope to see fic from you soon! There's tons of comms for pairings and such. superhero_muses and dcu_fandomguide are good resources, and I mod wonderwomanlove. :)

Awww, that's too bad about Diana and Steve not being together now. Well, that is what fanfic is for, right?

It is fun to rediscover my favorite heroes and catch up with what's been happening to them all. And lovely to see there's a lot of love for the earlier incarnations still.

I was playing whack-a-plotbunny pretty furiously for awhile, telling myself I do not need another fandom. Resistance proved futile, of course, and S/B fic will be appearing here shortly. Just hope I can do them justice.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

OK, this is probably going to get long for a variety of reasons! The first is, OMG, you were reading comics EXACTLY when I was! My first exposure to Wonder Woman was also her white-clad karate-shopping days (ETA: LOL, I meant "karate-chopping," but since she spent a fair amount of time shopping for mod clothes, I shall leave it as is!), and I kind of loved her (although I understand why Gloria Steinem disapproved, too!). I REMEMBER THAT LOIS STORY with the disfigured Superman visiting her on the beach! I read Lois Lane: Superman's Girlfriend voraciously (like the one where she gets turned into a snow-woman, or the crazy one where Superman becomes a tree), and it sounds like you were reading some of the same Batmans as I was (I don't remember that one specifically, but it sounds very O'Neil ( ... )

Hey, I remember that one with Superman turning into a tree! Crazy how certain images will pop into your head after such a long time, isn't it? Makes it all the more fun to run into someone else who remembers the old days ( ... )

Yeah, the first cover of Ms was of WW, and Steinem wrote about how angry she was that Diana had been stripped of her powers and taken on a male mentor. So she was a big fan of WW in general, just not the de leered time. I heard a fascinating interview with Denny O'Neil, who came up with the idea, and he says in retrospect he regrets how he executed the whole thing. DC gave her her powers back shortly after the article was published ( ... )
