not everyone has to be into the same shows, heck I've seen tons of shows before others on the flist and eventually they see them and like them or don't, not everyone liking the same thing is what makes life interesting.
but I will recommend you do watch the 1st and 3rd one again, they were the best, even if you aren't into it all that much those episodes were fantastic.
Yeah, but it's gotten to be a depressing pattern for me. My flist is all a-buzz about some show, I finally get to see it and ... there's no spark of excitement for me. Or, even worse, I do like something, but not in the same way everyone else does, so there's still nothing I can contribute.
It's just not fun, for me or everyone who is loving whatever show it is.
Regarding icons... I've been meaning to point you toward book_icons, if you're not already aware of it. The icon you're using right now would fit right in!
I'm sorry you feel that way about the Sherlock shows -- not so much that you didn't get such a big charge out of them but rather that you feel like you've missed the fannish bus.
Of the three shows, I enjoyed the first the best, mainly cos it just surprised me by being so lively and clever and more canon-referential than I ever expected. But just like the Robert Downey movie, I enjoyed it, but the fandom isn't sweeping me up. No, I'll just stick with the fandom that I've just discovered... after 40 years of existence! ;)
Thanks for the point -- found some nice Halloween icons for starters!
I knew going in that the slash vibe was not going to be there for me, with this new SH, but what shocked me was my instant dislike of the character of Sherlock Holmes. That improved as things went along, but it's one of the reasons I need to watch again before coming to any definite conclusions.
Although I suspect nothing in the world can redeem that appalling caricature of Moriarty. Can't decide which I hate more there: the actor playing him, or the utterly ludicrous presentation of the character.
It is consoling to remember that the main SH fandom continues to revolve around the original stories.
I know how you feel, missing the bus. I really, really tried to get more into SGA, as so many fellow Oz fans were such devoted followers. And I did enjoy the first few seasons, but just couldn't go the extra step.
I've decided I don't think I want to ever again have the slavish devotion to a fandom as I did Oz, but it would be nice to "get" the excitement as others on my flist.
It would be nice to have that sense of sharing the excitement again. I get a little of that with the Pendergast books, although on a very small scale.
SGA was a disappointment. I liked the show fairly well, but I wasn't especially smitten with the Rodney character who was everyone's darling, and I absolutely didn't see a twitch of slash anywhere. So there was no way to join the party.
I think Oz was a fluke, never to be repeated. And heck, even there I often felt like the lone Keller fan among a horde of Beecher groupies. LOL
I don't dislike them or anything, but do often wonder what the heck they're doing on ghost hunts when they're so easily spooked by itsy bitsy things like cobwebs and spiders.
I am still a lover of Oz. Now I put a lot of energy in NCIS. Much fanfic. There are some of us old Oz fanatics who are still aroung. Glad to hear from you, Riley. Ahavia
