Your description of your TV-viewing habits with your husband scared me a little, because it sounds a lot like me and my hubby. I always end up watching Parks at least twice because I don't have the patience to wait until Friday night to watch it with him when he's free (and who am I kidding, I've probably watched it two or three times already by then ( ... )

I loved that fic with the margin notes (and pictures of unicorns!). That was about perfect.

You're right, Chris is totally a politician type, in the worst way. It's not that Ben or Leslie couldn't succeed in politics, and they're surely the kind of people it's preferable to have in office, but there are moments I just can't see it. The idea of Ben shaking hands and making pleasant small talk with people at a campaign event. Or Leslie giving a damn about political fallout when she's faced with helping a friend.

I only know of one Tom/Ann fic, that one that quick_ly wrote, and it was wonderful, and only made me want more of them! I just love the idea of Tom/Ann.

On TV viewing with husband - we watch Parks together, but he talks all the way through it the first go round so I end up re-watching it by myself Friday morning before work. I like to watch it quietly so I don't miss anything; he thinks I'm weird. He's probably right.

On the 'other look' - I agree. I don't think it was anything more than an edit, and at the very most demonstrated Ben's appreciation of her and her work. BUT that look at the end did squeeze my heart a little. I think it was a little gift from the show to Leslie/Ben fans to say: we aren't pretending this isn't hard on them, but we're a comedy and not a drama so this is as much angst as you get right now.

On Chris: I agree he's kind of all over personality wise. There have been a handful of Chris moments where I really like the character. I've read in interviews they hope for him to act as a sort of boss because Ron doesn't and I think that role is a reason for the all-over personality in the character.

Love to read your thoughts each week! Thanks for sharing!

You know, the main thing I was worried about regarding the breakup was that it would change the tone of the show, that my favorite happy sitcom was going to be brought down by angst, so I'm actually really grateful for the way they're handling it. I loved reading all the angst over the summer but very glad that Parks proper is sticking to comedy. And hopefully we'll get our favorite couple back together soon.

Thanks for coming over and talking to me!

I love the title of this. That line cracked me up, and I can't even explain why. But I giggle every single time ( ... )

There were so many great lines in this episode, it was hard to pick. I started out with the one from the NPR interview about books being the tapestry of film or something, but it was way too long.

That was a really interesting article you posted on tumblr and I'm still processing. I didn't notice any dumbing-down this season, so maybe that makes me dumb. ;) But the birtherism ... I think it was so loosely connected to the Obama situation that I was okay with it. They so quickly went a different direction with it than real life, and came to a conclusion so specific to Leslie, that it didn't seem to have any larger meta meaning to me. It is a little strange that parks has been doing more ripped-from-the-headlines type storylines, but it hasn't bothered me.

I should have thought harder before I posted that; that said, I had no idea everyone would get quite so mad. Life lessons learned I suppose.

Oh, no, I was glad you posted it. I like reading stuff like that, and I don't think anyone was mad at you; there were just some people who disagreed strongly with the article. And it prompted some interesting discussions, so I thought it was good to get it out there.

Anyway, Mr. and Mrs. Ansari have left the building, and I am going to read your next chapter today! Sorry it's taken me so long.
