Continuing the saga of my trying to make my computer work...

I've now got it starting to do the boot from USB - but it comes up with an error;

Windows has disabled direct disk access to protect your long filenames

The boot disk you have isn't a winxp or Vista one. (It's actually windows 95) Can't be used I'm afraid.

How urgent you need fix? I can swing by with my little USB cd drive at some point, but not sure when.

Hmm, so I need to redo the boot disk? Don't suppose you can point me to a place I can do a simple download of what I need can you?

Having a computer would be good, though I'm currently working okay without so not too terribly urgent I guess. I leave for Christmas tomorrow (afternoon/evening) and will return on the Wednesday after Christmas. Your help is very kind - I know you're massively busy right now!
