It is okay to tell people you want to take a weekend off to chill. I do it all the time. (Well, not all the time, but I do it when I need it.)

The problem is that I'm super-OCD about wasting free time. If I have free time and I don't do something useful with it, it throws me into a terrible mood that lasts for a long time.

Well, like I said to Tube, above, I get more cranky and stressed out if I just squander my free time.

Plus, my apartment isn't very conducive to "me" time right now, anyway, so I may as well have some fun doing other things.

I'll be okay. I think it's just that I'm trying to finish a bunch of stuff at work this week, and folks have been asking me to commit to nebulous plans without specifics.

Perhaps there's a way to trick your mind into thinking it's doing work when in actuality you're really just kicking back and unwinding?

I would suggest something along the lines of reading a book or watching a movie that has underlying tones and deeper meanings. You'll be able to enjoy it, and mull over and analyze the undertones to keep yourself "busy and productive."

As you yourself said on one of your podcasts with Kyell in regards to my question a long while ago:

"Suck it up and deal?"
