But but! That was what I thought the last time around ("oh god, not another tournament") and it turned out alright. Just think of Naruto and the little kids they'd have to put him with. A glimpse of the next generation! Konohamaru will be there! We'll have even more chracters remember, OH JOY.
(I am sort of serious about this. Only sort of, but yes.)
I actually love tournaments, most of the time. You can't read Yoshihiro Togashi things like Hunter x Hunter and Yuu Yuu Hakusho without some love of tournaments, right?
But I wanna move on with the story. Naruto is all right, but he is not the character I read for.
And I don't want little kid!ninjas interloping more than they already are and stealing scenes away from Neji and Hinata the others!

Tsk, tsk. You know it's just stealing attention from Neji and Hinata. It's stealing attention from NejiNaruHina, which is where the story is going, regardless of my crack induced delusions despite every piece of evidence to the contrary that we're going to get stuck with annoying NaruSaku which is evil bad and wrong and I can't stand and why doesn't she run off to Sasuke and join Orochimaru and just stop annoying me so I can see the awesomeness of NejiNaruHina(and continue plotting my completely crack-induced series of fics where NejiNaruHina go all sorts of places. First Stop after GatF? Tokyo, where they meet the FoR cast. After that? AU-land as they get flung across dimensions and encounter bizarro versions of everyone they know as Konoha is a interstellar empire and NejiNaruHina(that world's version) were badass mecha pilots before being lost on a mission. So guess what Konoha's ruler, Tsunade,

Yeah, I had the Neji=Jounin fangirl reaction as well. It was a painful fangirl reaction as well, since I'm far too sick to be fangirling right now. o_O
Gaara floored me as well. ^___^ At first I was just kinda: "WTF? Gaara? A leader!?" but then I remembered Gaara's AMAZING MATURITY OF DOOOM!!!! after the Kimamaru fight and went: "Ahhh, that's so perfect!" ^_____^
The last two chapters didn't excite me too much, but now that it looks like the SAND are going to have a bigger part in the series, and that the Akatsuki are, y'know, actually DOING STUFF, I've collapsed into a big puddle of fangirl mush. The series seems to be branching out into a much broader world view- taking the focus out of Konoha and spreading it ALL over the place- which I appreciate muchly.
I want to see him now. ON PAPER. DRAWN OUT IN ALL THE GLORY OF JOUNINISM JOUNINHOOD BEING A JOUNIN.
Amazing maturity of doom! That's what I told my sister when she started whining that Gaara was too unstable to be leader. He is not. Gaara is totally level and balanced and think first, acts second now
