So, playing the Laurinces and Delines has been getting kinda laggy, and it's not really the amount of sims on the lot or the size of the lot. I have a feeling it's the age of the lots, combined with the acquiring of stuff, since the places are pretty well decorated. And after awhile, Fortune sims' wants to buy X add up.
I have plans to move each family into a new lot after the next heir graduates Uni. I also may or may not get rid of all their money and make them pay a mortgage on it. Since each family has been in their house about 7 generations or so, this is a pretty big deal. I built their houses from scratch myself, but they both have their flaws (the Laurinces' is an odd shape with bedrooms all over the damn place, the Delines' doesn't have enough bathrooms), so I decided to look through houseplans this time around until I see something feasible to build.
This is the first house. I am so in love with the damn thing, and I don't know who I'm going to move into it yet. It's an adaptation of the floorplan
here. It's on a 4x4, like pretty much all of my legacies' lots.
Okay, this is the front, obviously. There are actually two driveway pieces, left and right, plus the attached garage. I used archways so the front "porch" area is actually an enclosed room.
Here's the back, which goes right to the very end of the lot. There's some yard, but it's mostly on the left side of the house instead of behind it, like on a lot of lots I've built.
First floor. The house is huge, and there are tons of bedrooms and bathrooms. Every room marked B is a bathroom, the rest had room to write out the whole word. :)
Second floor. You might notice that in the plan, there was this huge WING for the master bed and bath, and I was able to split that off into three huge bedrooms and three bathrooms on the left. Go figure. There's a LOT of openness, with the archways and the "spare" rooms upstairs are more like one long gallery.
Here's a shot of the entryway, so you can see what I meant about using an archway. I've also decided I'm in love with those round deco stair bits. They're payshit from TSR, but that's what the booty is for.
Here's the view from the foyer. You can see the living room, dining room, and a glimpse of the family room here.
Here's the dining room. I may change out the wallpaper, I haven't decided yet. Through that little arch over there, you can see a bit of the kitchen.
It's so fucking bright, but I don't care. It's adorable. (See: The current Laurince living room for how I feel about bright blue and green.)
I don't know why I made the actual laundry room a laundry room, but I did.
Here's the family room, with access to the kitchen and living room. You can see through the divider to the stairs, and they have a bar. Woo.
Directly behind that last pic is those glass doors, which go out to the deck and patio. I think this is one of the nicest outdoor spaces I've made.
I think I'm in love with the living room, though.
Here's a shot of the stairs.
The biggest nursery I've ever had. It's really roomy and could easily hold trips or quads.
I actually plan to use the "libarary" as such. It's only got a desk now, but I figure the non-huge rewards can be stashed in here. However, if needed, it could be yet another bedroom. This is a great house to do that 10 kids want in.
The only intended downstairs bedroom, I imagine it as a "guest room," though I like to give the heir the bedroom closest to the nursery, so it'll probably be the heir suite.
This alcove gives a view of the pool, the living room, the foyer, AND the gallery across the way. I can't wait to see what kind of pictures I can take in this place!
So, I laid down various colors of carpet and then made the rest of the rooms match. The bathrooms also match the bedroom they are connected to. Why? Because I could.
I put a pool table in the larger room of the gallery. I haven't decided exactly how to allocate the rest of the space. I just did basic furnishings until I know who I'm putting in the place.
This is the bedroom that was the master bathroom in the plan. Yeah, you can see why this isn't a bathroom, right?
The bedroom directly above the library.
Nominally the master bedroom.
The one thing special about the master bedroom is this cute little deck with a view of the backyard. :D
Okay, so I'm sure some of you would like to download this now that you've looked at it. Important info!
- You need Uni/NL/OfB/Seasons.
- I am sharing the house UNFURNISHED, but landscaped.
- Maxis recolors weren't packed, so the large glass windows and waterslide are going to be missing the recolor I used here. There's also an invisible driveway recolor you might want to pick up, if you haven't already got it.
- You may want to use Clean Installer. The vast majority of the walls and floors are custom, and you may want to pick and choose.
- Update! I was able to clean out the file. I had a couple walls with wonky names that drove CI batty. They are renamed and in the zip. There are extra divider recolors because, again, I couldn't tell what I had used and I used multiple ones, so I just left them all in.
- There is a set of open underneath stairs by crocobaura included. If you just install them, they'll appear correctly in the lot, but if you want them to appear in your catalog as well, you'll need to follow the install instructions in the download thread
here.

Here Enjoy! I do ask, in this case, since I am planning to specifically use it for a story family that, if you want to use it for one of YOUR story families, you redecorate the place at the very least? ;)
