The effects of Composure in some detail.

Mar 13, 2010 12:06

So today I'm going to explain composure to all the noob RDM's out there since last night one called me some names and said that I don't know what I'm talking about. I'm just a dick who quits and comes back and thinks he's still the shit. Well, first and foremost, I still am the shit, and the dick part has its own validations as well; now lets get ( Read more... )

Thank you for posting I'm oh so glad to get competent feedback! Testing resist and partial resist rates is an interesting thought I never thought of, please post here if you do any further testing I'd love to hear. My new PC is windows 7 x64 and I can't get windower3 to work, so im using the alpha version of windower4 which doesn't support scripts which all my advanced RDM macro's are.

As such i havn't touched rdm, strictly blm and smn =\. I've had several people try to help me get 3 working so I can start solo'ing on rdm again but to no avail.

I don't even wanna imagine if said rdm solo's with composure up, 25% on bind which is about a 30s recast iirc is like what 7.5s added on? That's insane not to mention utsusemi recasts oh boy even longer upwards of 10 give or take. To be honest I doubt this rdm ever solo'd anything that wasn't melee oriented and 10 levels below 75 such as avatars.

I don't get an error message unless I go through the GUI. When I click the launcher it runs POL.EXE, the normal pol shitty client. And yes I check off x64, and downloaded Aikar's updated hook.dll; a couple of them at that. I'm at a loss, im gonna try the UAC thing again I suppose, I have it set to 25%, 1 notch above it being pretty much off.

If I could get windower 3 working with my scripts I'd unretire my rdm and start solo'ing some before the level cap increases and none of that is a challenge or accomplishment anymore =\

That was a very true post thank you. If theres an enfeebling magic recast and you don't need the potency from AF body then that is great but I admit to the fact that while there surely isn't anything really... well better then -3% reduction to enhancing magic, that still doesn't make it good lol.

So in no way shape or form to I blame someone for that in fact it would be 'interesting' to use without composure, even though that .3s you save per cast adds up to about 1 extra second of rest in between cycles no one can really argue that its BAD. Just not worthwhile lol.

And yeah, agreed in full oh the ffxiah rank. It's an interesting little stat, but totally ass backwards however fun the novelty is for a a few minutes. The only alure to me is that it can help you sell things and make windower macros to a certain extent. =\

Thanks for the post I appreciate your input always ^^

I agree wholeheartedly about the composure topic. Any RDM who thinks that they don't have to cure and can fulltime composure is being a complete and utter moron. As Funbardii said though, there are fewer and fewer skilled players as the days pass in this game. You probably should slap someone with your AV title for that nonsense I think lol. I gotta admit, I like being high ranked on my server even though it has absolutely nothing to do with my skill or other's skill.

I couldn't agree more. I used to be about maybe... 120 was it? And I liked the idea of seeing 120 out of 30,000 or so but it was never anything more then a novelty. I openly accept that over a 6-8month break people would out XP me weather they were better or worse then me. I had good friends I encouraged to activate their profile because it was fun, and I knew they would be ranked ahead of me. Clearly it's all in good fun ^^

As the days go on I expect less and less from this game and its players sadly =\

Thanks for your post I always appreciate it :), glad you all enjoyed the read. Was a little worried about the wall-o-text.

You can further your argument with this:

(Utsusemi)

RDM Innate Recast: Recast -10%
Warlock's Chapeau: Recast -5%
Duelist's Tabard: Recast -5%
Loquacious Earring: Recast lol-1%
Dusk Gloves +1: 4% Haste
Speed Belt: 6%
Haste (Spell): 15%
Nashira Serweels (2%)
Dusk Feet +1 (3%)

*I don't use all the gear above for my Utsusemi cast, but I do use most of them!
(That's 51% recast)

Others
Sentinel's Shield (1%)

Unless the other person had 2x Marches, (which would be the only instance where I would ever conceive a full time composure)- With ONLY capped gear, it's still going to be ~-26% Recast vs ~50%.
(Personally, if I was tanking on RDM, and I had 2x marches, I'd keep composure up because of the lack of penalties though). In the case of 2x marches, the penalty is only 4% from haste cap of 50%. (which isn't too bad of a penalty!)

As for RDM's curing, I've been guilty of preferring WHM's over RDM's. Mostly because of the utility of Afflalus abilities.

Since you buff yourself as a RDM tank, composure is good, and I can see the problem with wasting time clicking composure on and off when your desperately trying to keep your shadows up, but at the same time I would probably have to disagree baring actual number tests ( ... )

I guess in that instance it would be ok, but I'm not much of a tanking RDM persay. I see through the eyes of a solo/duo RDM and event style RDM. I do have admit that it would be fairly close to ideal under those circumstances. Guess I never really thought about it to that extreme.

It's funny to me how often the "new" players have said the game has changed, yet the old players are still going WTF did they just do ( ... )

I say-- Old school WHM's are better just because they had to experience the pain an torture of Toramas in Labryith of Onzozo in the 60's and cockatrice in Kuftal/Terrigan.

The exp camps made them better players! I still believe that to this day!
