Enjoyable read about a too little explored relationship. Especially enjoyed the last four paragraphs (and the section where Daniel's teaching them how to get a steady water supply). Oh, Daniel.

What a lovely little piece! It sheds light on Daniel's younger years, too, without making them one massive trauma. That boy must have had some good times to grow up into the curious and often trusting man he becomes.

It's nice to see Daniel and Skaara having fun, enjoying each other's company.

And I completely agree with you. Daniel had to have had at least a few pleasant and normal years as a boy growing up, or he wouldn't become nearly as well grounded and as you said, trusting as he is.

Oh, this is wonderful--sad and funny, bittersweet, with a wonderful bit of back story for Daniel. I love Skaara and Daniel acting like such young men together. It makes me very, very happy.

Thank you! Even though Daniel only had a year on Abydos, I like to think it was really the place where he finally found himself in the world.

I really think you're right. And part of that, of course, is the difference between the actors, but Daniel really seems to grow and change between the movie and the series. (Part of that, no doubt, is due to Sha're's influence.)

I love that Daniel throws himself into that life and doesn't look back.
