I now have an ELI (a bluetooth dongle for my hearing aid)! it works with my cell phone or with a computer as a headset (speaker and/or microphone). now i can not only look like a schizophrenic and talk to thin air; i can also clandestinely record anything i can hear, as long as my computer is within about 30 feet. scary eh ( Read more... )

Heh, I just hope that works better than the bluetooth stuff I've played with. I've yet to find a combination of bluetooth phone/adaptor and headset that actually worked static-free at more than about 3 feet. A case of getting what you pay for, I guess, I should stop being so cheap. :-P

it's unfortunately not cheap, but that's probably because of its small size and specialized niche. i have yet to test the range.

We have a bad habit of forgetting the phone and leaving the car with just the headset.

So, like, I could sync my Palm with your hearing aid?

Does that thing do WiFi? Can you become a hotspot? I for one welcome our WiFi-hotspot-in-the-ear overlords...

no wifi, just bluetooth.

and i think it just conforms to the bluetooth headset spec, so it exports and imports audio, but that's about it.

every now and then it emits mysterious beeps and startles me.
