Well, as someone who prefers reading on paper as opposed to screen myself (despite not being old), I can offer at least one perspective as to why. If I do a lot of reading on a computer screen-- particularly with dark text on a light background-- my eyes start to burn from all the light coming from the screen. It can cause a great deal of eye strain. Add to that that older people are 1) less comfortable with technology than our generation and 2) have generally poorer eyesight than we do, it's not all that surprising that they'd prefer to read things via paper. =)
