I love Colorado with a capital L. It's sooo pretty and the people are so nice. I'm hopefully venturing out to Denver and Ft.Collins in March. I like your racing schedule! Just reading that made fat people like me sweat. And the hiking! How fun! Are you doing it with someone? How many miles total? I really admire your ambition.

I'm also more of a middle distance runner. I first ran a sub 5 mile my junior year of high school with a time of 4:59.49. I think my PRs that year (my running peak) were mile: 4:48, 5k (cross country): 18:07, 200: 2:11. Oh the good old days and to be young again. Now I "run" for stress relief and fun. I "race" as an excuse to get away for a weekend and get together with friends. (the goodie bags usually aren't too bad either. Yes, I'm one of THOSE people. Shame)

Lol. I think the swag bags usually suck. A couple bumper stickers I'd never defile my truck with and a lot of advertisements? Gimme a break! I paid a hundred bucks to run this shit! Sometimes the technical shirts are ok, and I look forward to a medal collection.

The hike is something like 800 miles. Be at least a 7 week endeavor. A guy I know from the livejournal runners community who lives, I think, in Delaware is hoping to make it out to do part of it with me and I have another Colorado friend who would also like to do part of it, but I'm worried about him being fast enough since it looks like I'll be trying to squeeze the hike in between the Leadville and Pike's Peak Marathons. I'll be trying to make 25 miles a day when they say a good average to shoot for on this trail is 17.

I don't think the people in Colorado are particularly nice but maybe I've also been meeting the wrong people. Or it might be more of a reflection on who I've been all my life than it is on them; I've changed a lot in the past year or two and hope to change a lot more.

You were a pretty damned decent runner!
