Title: Root Beer

Summary: Jan discovers root beer.
Warning: Awkward ending due to the pointlessness of this fic.
Jan stared at the mug in curiosity. Through the clear glass, he could see it was filled with a brown liquid with bubbles in them, with a thin layer of white foam floating at the top. He sniffed it, but still couldn’t tell exactly what it was.
“Retsu, what is this?” He asked, pointing at the mug. Retsu, eating a fruit bar nearby, glanced at the mug and replied. “That’s root beer.”
“Root beer?” Jan cocked his head, puzzled. “Can you drink this?” He picked up the mug and swirled the liquid contents gently, watching as the bubbles rose up to the foam one by one.
“Of course you can,” Ran answered, grabbing a towel from a rack to wipe her sweat after her training. “Don’t worry, it’s not real beer.”
Jan scratched his head in frustration. “Beer? What’s that?”
“It’s an alcoholic drink. It’s alright to drink it, but if you have too much you’ll get drunk.” Retsu finished the last of his fruit bar and prepared for his training round.
“Ehh...” The jungle boy dipped a forefinger in the liquid experimentally and licked it. “Uwah! It’s sweet!” He cried in excitement. He then proceeds to gulp down the rest of the mug, wiping his mouth with the back of his sleeve. “Delicious~” He burped happily before lying on the floor in estasy.
Master Shafu gazed down at Jan with his narrow eyes. “Jan, what are you doing on the floor?”
“Neko! I just drank root beer! It’s so sweet and nice!” Jan licked his lips, yearning for more root beer. Upon hearing that, Shafu’s whiskers twitched and the cat’s face fell in disappointment.
“So that’s why my cup’s empty. Nyon~”
