Gokaiger fic: Zordon
I'm actually quite proud of this, I've been developing it in my head for days now. Btw did you know hardly anyone significant died (and stayed dead) in Power Rangers? At least Sentai had 3 dead 6th Rangers...

A ball bounced onto the road, a young boy chasing after it. Jake reacted without thinking, running forward and pushing the boy off the road. Excruciating pain overtook his senses as the oncoming car rammed into him. Then, there was nothing.
"Awaken, Jake." A booming voice beckoned.
Jake opened his eyes, to find himself surrounded by a soft glow of light from all directions. There were no walls, no floor nor ceiling, yet he seemed to be standing on an invisible platform.
"Jake." The voice called again. It seemed to come from all around him, with no distinguishable source.
"Who's there?"
A blue floating head materialised before him. Jake instantly recognised it from his research; Zordon, the rumoured mentor of the original teams of Power Rangers.
"Jake, there is much you must still do. You cannot fall here."
His right hand felt a weight pressing against it. He lifted the device which had somehow appeared in his hand and examined it. It appeared to be a cell phone of sorts, with a large empty chamber on the top half protected by a transparent screen. The keypad had miniature faces printed onto each button, varying in colour from green to silver and gold. The device itself was ornately decorated, painted primarily in gold and silver with a stylized anchor framing the top.
"I don't understand, Zordon. What is this?"
"This is the Anchor Morpher. You can turn into any Power Ranger by inserting a Ranger Key into the the Morpher."
A silver figurine-like object appeared in the Morpher's chamber. Jake gingerly opened the Morpher and extracted the object, which was apparently a Ranger Key.
"Find the Pirate Rangers and guide them using your vast knowledge of Power Rangers of the past." Zordon's voice began to fade into the distance, as his avatar phased out of existence.
A great force pulled Jake backward, and he opened his eyes again, only to find himself in the same place he was in before - on the road where he had saved the boy's life. The Anchor Morpher and silver Ranger Key were still in his hands, reminders that whatever he had just seen wasn't a mere dream. Thankfully the road was empty, allowing him to regain his bearings again after that encounter. Once he felt confident he wouldn't fall over, he stood and glanced skyward. The iconic red ship in the sky was parked only a few blocks away.
"Time to meet with destiny," He smirked, inwardly excited about getting to meet the subjects of his lifelong research. He stuffed the Morpher and Ranger Key into his grey hoodie's pockets and headed for the pirate ship.
