I saw a blip of utopian sci fi today that suddenly reminded me of the Culture novels, and made me desperately want to read more. I feel a little guilty about it, because I invariably haven't enjoyed his other books as much -- like, I really liked Transition + The Algebraist, but I still inevitably have moments while reading in which I go "BUT WHERE ARE THE MINDS? THE DRONES? WHERE IS SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES". I feel like this is a really obnoxious kind of reader to be. But goddamnit NOTHING IS LIKE THE CULTURE AND I CAN'T GET THAT FIX ANYWHERE ELSE so I needs it, precious. adflkjgaøldkfg
