Secret Origins

Rictor tilted his head back as he drained the last of a gallon of milk into his mouth right from the jug. He was pretty sure Jimmy had drank the bulk of it with breakfast, but he really hadn't been awake enough for breakfast to be able to tell. When he looked back down, he caught Shatterstar giving him a vastly disgusted look. Rictor immediately went on the defensive.
"Oh, like you use a glass every time!" He'd seen Shatterstar down an entire carton of orange juice in one go just the other day. He was beginning to suspect that the big alien didn't actually have a gag reflex, and he was trying very hard not to think about that.
"Don't you know where that came from?" Shatterstar demanded insistently, still grimacing.
"Yeah. The grocery store. I was with Dom when she bought it, remember?"
Shatterstar was shaking his head, and okay, this was getting a little weird.
"No, Julio, it is not just from the store," 'Star said, looking concerned. "Before that, it was extracted from a cow." He said this with great intensity, as though delivering an earth-shattering revelation.
It was a testament to his survival instinct that Rictor didn't laugh in his face. Fortunately, Shatterstar seemed to interpret the bitten-off noise he made as surprise, nodding vigorously.
"I see," Rictor said in a strained voice. He really couldn't think of a way to explain why that didn't bother him without getting his ass kicked by every female on the team at some point in the future.
He decided not to tell 'Star where cheese came from.
