Aww, that second one is lovely. I like your early 'Star very much - the misery and confusion behind the feral rarrrgh! instincts. The 'gaining the trust of the wild animal' thing feels very right. And I really like the idea that alternate Layla would bond with him and try and make sure he got looked after :)
