I'll admit that with my own children, I have been very torn about the LGBT issue. I don't really know HOW I would address the matter to them when it comes around (and it will sooner or later, since my beloved cousin is a lesbian), because even though I would love my children regardless of what their orientation turned out to be, I don't really want them thinking that it is a choice one gets to make, whether to be with girls or with boys.
You know what I mean? I don't want them to become barsexuals, in other words, where they are just with the same sex because it is "cool" or "in" to do it. I don't know. I guess no parent really wants to think about their child being a sexual being in any way.

I just perused the list really, but - The Color Purple - Walker, Alice* (maybe) - caught my eye. It was a rough read for me, but I absolutely adore that book.
*sigh* How effing depressing. But you must realize that the state who is hosting all THIS drama is also the state that holds my favorite city - Madison! which is one of the most fabulous liberal havens anywhere. I guess it balances out...

So far, I know of at least THREE Banned Books I have shared with my kids, and we are on book #4. And that's just from the top of my head.
I am of the full intent to corrupt my children with banned books for the rest of their natural lives.
