You know, I'm not a wine fan at all but those dessert wines sound lovely. Are they more sweet than bitter? Because then I might have to check them out.
There should be very little to no bitterness at all in any wine you drink. If I want bitter I'll drink lemonade :-)
These dessert wines are much more sweet then any other "normal" drinking wines but they aren't like a fruit punch or Hi-C. There should be just enough "sweet" in them to complement the flavors. Think of a gourmet chocolate cake. It's covered in chocolate and "sweet" but nothing like eating a Snickers bar. Same kind of deal with dessert wines. Sweet enough that you would be satisfied with a single glass after a meal but still nothing like stuffing a cherry pie in your mouth. Next time I know you guys will be around I'll bust out a couple for you to try. They are pretty damn good.
Alba's dry Riesling was pretty good and a solid summertime drink. I'd recommend it. They unfortunately didn't have any samples of their sweeter one. One of my favorite things to do with Riesling is to compare Kabinett, Spätlese and Auslese styles all from the same producer.
