2nd bolt

((Action, 1124 Taylor Road; public))The last time Thor drank mead, it was out of a cauldron five miles deep, in a golden hall surrounded by the greatest of the Aesir, all toasting his strength with every foaming horn-full they swallowed. Mayfield, however, has neither bottomless cauldrons, nor golden halls, nor, for the most part, Aesir. He's sick ( Read more... )

[Loki probably made him come. And it's not like he has anything better to do, so he's here. Jormungandr is lurking off to the side all linefaisy and generally a bit of a mood killer.]

[He's not the type to laugh, Thor. He usually doesn't even smile. Get used to it.

But he shrugs in answer. He doesn't laugh. At anything.]

[...Hmph.] Take your frowns away from the mead, then! Inflict them on another.

[You're one to talk, Thor. You've been frowning at him since he got here. And Jormungandr isn't frowning, he's just not smiling. There's a difference.

But you want to see a smile? Very well. He smiles. It's an incredibly strange and kind of scary look, and it feels just as awkward for Jormugandr to make it. So he stops quickly and rolls his eyes and starts to walk away.]

][...Wow, yeah, Thor kind of wishes Jormungandr hadn't done that. Snake-smiles are not true smiles.

He doesn't stop Jormungandr from leaving - he's had his fill of this one-sided conversation. But he calls to him as he goes:]

Serpent! [He glowers at him briefly, unsure for a moment how far he intends to take his hospitality. But, in the end, the mead bubbling before him has the final say on his mood.]

...Have another beer before you go. Maybe it'll make a less dour snake of you.

[Jormungandr pauses and looks back over his shoulder. He hesitates. On the one hand there's really no reason for him to stay any longer, but on the other Thor is actually making an effort to include him. At least partially. It's interesting. So he turns and nods.]

[Yep. Loki talked him into it. And is going to watch Jormungandr awkward-turtle all over the party.

What? It's good for him to get out and about. Loki is definitely doing this for Jormungandr's own good: throwing him into a social situation to learn the ropes. Sink or swim, as it were.

He's watching you watch everyone else.]

[It's very interesting watching others, though. Humans, despite all their flaws and irritants, are very interesting.]
