I just made this the other day! My recipe was a little different, and I even ended up putting chocolate sauce over the cake, my stomach hated me for it. But these cakes are actually pretty good!
I was having some issues recently with eating way to much nut or seed butter. I realized that I wasn't getting enough protein... to curb the cravings! I added brown rice powder to my smoothies and they went away.
Also, maca powder helps to curb sugar cravings... so I put that and the br. rice protein in my smoothie!
Do you get Brendan Brazeir's Vega products there? I am going to start using the Vega sport as it's higher in protein and then nix the br. rice protein.
Thank you for the link. You're inspiring me to think more about how much sugar I consume. I'll never be as healthy as you, but perhaps you'll help me to rein it in a bit :)
I have no idea about the BB Vega products, it's not something I'd ever really thought about. I think that if I just start eating more of a whole foods-based diet, that'll be a good enough change for me. I rely too much on bread for snacks! I was just talking to Garrett about my diet (on a walk to the nearest soda machine to get him some Mountain Dew! I was well behaved and didn't get any :D), and I'm going to try and make smoothies a daily part of my diet. 2 - 4 servings of fruit in one go, and I'll be winning! Oh, and nut butters are delicious, but I don't really understand why you need to cut back on them? I know they're very fatty, but that's about it... Enlighten me :D
Oh lady, I had a SERIOUS sugar problem. I was daily eating half a pack of vegan sandwich creams instead of dinner. Stress inspired AND stress causing. Downward cycle of sugar madness
( ... )
Mmm, vegan sandwich creams... I mean, uh, I'm glad you made positive changes to your life :) And you're definitely allowed to slip up once in a while, you're only human! Coffee and chocolate are delicious :D
I think I already eat a pretty decent amount of protein, and I always worry more about eating too much and it leeching calcium than me being protein deficient. However, over the past few days, my meals have been based around whole foods, so I've been eating lots of beans and tofu, vegetables and rice - I love when my diet goes back to being like this! And yes, hurrah for mason jars! I'm also a major grump if I haven't eaten properly (or slept, for that matter) - so much so that if I was hungry and someone invited me out to do something fun right away, I'd probably turn it down because a hungry Emma is a fun sponge!
Don't apologise, I enjoy taking about this stuff too! I LOVE FOOD.
Oh yum! Back in the UK I used to make a delicious chocolate fridge cake, but I haven't been able to find the right kind of biscuits/cookies over here. It was made with ginger nuts, loads of melted chocolate, golden syrup, raisins and cherries <3

Sugar gives you a boost of serotonin, which then disappears. There are certain foods with tryptophan which creates serotonin naturally:
