Nut expecting anything to pop above the surface for two weeks -just misting and keeping them warm until then...

I did manage to rub my nose by accident after handling the seeds, and yup my nose was on fire for a good hour after I went to bed. Unlike with eating chilli -you cannot snort milk so that was great fun!

That sounds like a challenge to me!

The snorting milk thing, rather than the nose wiping thing. ;)

Is it difficult to grow chillis then? Compared to, say, tomatoes?

Chilli plants are about as hard as tomatoes -obviously they have different needs but nothing you cannot sort with cheap or improvised gear.

Humidity tends to be the main thing and ideally they need a slightly different sort of feed.

However there is no reason not to be growing big crops of chillies from very mild right up to pepper spray super hot heat on a UK windowsill or in a UK garden.

Oh cool. I might well have a look at this properly if I get time. I'm not a fan of the oh-my-god-I-can't-feel-my-face varieties, but the less strong ones are quite tasty. Do you get your seeds from anywhere special, or can you just buy them in a regular garden centre?

There are all manner of specialist online retailers, but Amazon sell all types, and places like Wilkos and garden centres will carry varieties up to about Scotch Bonnet levels of heat.

I normally buy seed either from Amazon or from eBay direct from people whose blogs I read. Now I am starting to save my own seed, you will find if you grow a few successful plants and take the time to save a few pods for seed -you won't need to buy that variety again for a very long time.

The seeds are generally pretty cheap anyway. It can be annoying waitng 2 weeks for them to properly germinate though.
