Double Bluff: Interlude 1 (Chapter 7a?)

You're all going to hate me. So much. Sorry! Try to remember this was written months before all your speculations, okay? I didn't do this on purpose. I made it an interlude by the way, because it could also have been a prologue, but timing wise I wanted it to come now, but it's sort of so separate from the current story setting that I didn't think ( Read more... )

So much in keeping with the current holiday. So many men and women going off to do their duty and leaving their loved ones behind. Very poignant piece in light of what we know happens. Thanks!

My first response to this was "Hey! You know what happens? Great, tell me!" :-D

But that seemed callous in light of the part of your comment about Memorial day, so I shall add: I wrote this so many months ago, I hadn't even realized that I was posting it somewhat appropriately date-wise. At the time, I was just trying to put myself into the mindset of someone who was in the middle of nowhere fighting for something worth fighting for. The men and women of our country who do so are amazing, and deserve far more acclaim than they ever get.

So sweet, my heart breaks for the reality that he will return to. At least I believe that you will be kinder to him than the original writers.

Thank you for sharing these with us!

I'm glad to hear that you don't hate me for this bit... but fair warning, I can't actually promise that I'm kinder to Gibbs than the show writers... just... different. I do promise to give him a far more effective happily ever after however. I mean, I suppose you could make an argument of relative kindness where I came out ahead, but I think it would largely subjective.
