So... computer is dead. Am currently typing from R's computer (thank you, R!) as she was nice enough to bring it over for me to catch up on life a bit. I already desperately miss my computer... it's been two days. I know that's sad, but I forget how much I do with my computer until it's gone. It's my music player, my tv, my internet, my day planner ( Read more... )

Well yes, that's essentially what I'd be doing for that price. I'd be getting a new motherboard, power supply, and memory. Not sure on the video card. Basically, W would be updating my computer to greater hieghts of coolness for $500.

Ouch to the triplicade. Sounds to me (and I'm not good with that sutff either) as if your netpart went up in flames and took everythign connected with it. I cross my fingers and hope that everythign will work out for you. 500 is a lot of money, you REALLY could get a brand new computer with it.

See, the problem with getting a brand new already built off the line computer is that it wouldn't put up with my computer usage. So if I do spend that amount of money, I want to do so using what I can of my current computer so the end result actually does what I need it to do. Nothing actually went up in flames in it. The power supply stopped working. This has happened in this computer 3 times now. The issue is, that no self respecting computer should eat 3 power supplies in 4 years. So this means that it's likely there's a short somewhere else in something else that's making it happen... like the mother board for example ( ... )
