That is a frightening thought, isn't it? Thank god the writers didn't go that way! Think of all the Paire fic that would have gone unwritten...*shudders*

My first inkling of Paire was when Peter sees the painting of Claire at Isaac's studio (in "Hiros"). The way he was looking at it...I certainly didn't get the impression of "Gee, I guess I found her" but rather a "This is going to change everything" feeling.

Never thought I'd write a character death fic but I'm glad I got to stretch my writer's wings a bit.

I could totally see ghostly Claire haunting Peter. He would always remember her like the girl he was supposed to save, his failure would be his biggest regret.

You nailed it on the head - Peter would always regret not saving Claire. I never cared for Simone (she just didn't have chemistry with other characters) but I always thought her one good quality was that she defied Nathan by showing Peter the digital print of the painting & making that phone call. If she hadn't, then Peter might not have known to go to Odessa in time to save Claire.

So you could say Simone is responsible for Paire...LOL

Oh my God, this is so chilling. I ♥ it! Your use of words amazes me, especially in the phrase "his world tilts" because I think to myself, 'Who on earth would use tilts there?' So simple, but not a word used very often. Anywho, the last line is shocking and I'm so glad the show didn't go this route. But beautiful job, hon. :)
