Drabble meme nicked from memlu:

Choose a letter of the alphabet and name a word that begins with that letter. (Once a letter is taken, future posters have to choose another letter.) Name a fandom. I will write you a drabble for that fandom based around the theme of that word.

High summer in Konoha hits when even his much maglined laziness finds respectability; not even Lee ventures out before four in the afternoon in these days.

Nothing to do but open the shoji screens for a breeze, sip on lemonade, and listen for the whistleclick of the new nightengale floor (she hasn't quite mastered third step in)before her languid, little body curls up by his side.

Thank you! I like the lazy-in-summer feel invoked by the drabble. (feel free to request from me, if you like)

Another crash shook the house from downstairs. Akamaru shot down deeper under the bed, quivering and shivering; Kiba wished he could do the same.

A shriek rose from under the floorboards, followed by exchange of airborne crockery and insults; Kiba pulled the pillows against his head even harder.

Sometimes, he groused, having enhanced hearing wasn't all it was cracked up to be, and right now having ears sensitive enough to pick up every word about his mother, sister, four bottles of sake, a 'disagreement' over a new team member, and a permanent banning from their favorite yakitori restaurant was not an advantage.

The house shuddered and a bit of plaster fell on his back; someone found the explosion notes hidden in the gravy bowl.

Q - quiet. Rurouni Kenshin.

A part of him is disturbed in the wake of the recent slaughters, not the moments of discomfort(he expected as much given his 'position') but the increasingly odd times they crop up.

Not the minutes after an assassination nor before, not in his deepest sleep or idle daydreams, but the quiet lulls of ordinary life.

Helping Okami-san lug the fresh sheets up the stairs and wondering aimlessly who cleaned the futon of the magistrate he killed last week. Organizing his novels and furiously trying to remember the name of the author his target was reading the afternoon before. Sporadically counting the number of officials he cut down coming out of local restaurants in between bites of rice.

Kenshin supposes he should be grateful, screaming nightmares would be far more distracting in the long run (he thinks he hopes.)

She falls.

Daughter, daughter the raven king calls.
Daughter, daughter did you forget?
Daughter, daughter do you regret?

And she screams and kicks and beats her hands bloody on the floor. No, no, no nononono not now not again never again. Never again the raven's daughter. She is Rue.

And the raven cawks.

Her wings rip themselves out of her flesh, wrapping themselves around her, wet and hot. She is bleeding, she is dying, she is being born and the thought terrifies her.

Daughter, daughter the raven king calls.
Daughter, daughter you can never go.
Daughter, daughter you always bring woe.

Woe to Rue, Rue is woe, isn't that her name? Poison on her lips, a black and bloodied heart; raven's daughter, carrion's daughter, hangman's daughter

You are you are you are

She wakes.

Mytho holds her as she cries and does not speak. She will do the same for him and he for her.

Is my writing too formal or badly written?

I don't always proof read my work.
