The night of 4 rice krispie treats.

Wow, that seriously brings back memories for me.....

I cried during my second medicine call as an intern. I almost made it out the door, but about an hour before sign out, I couldn't take it another second and I cried. I was so miserable and frustrated and on top of that... I was tired.

But I think a lot of what got to me was that my resident was so damn unsupportive. I know you said that your resident is sweet, but it sounds like she was giving you a hard time a lot on your call. I hate it when residents get all condescending. And when I cried during my call, my resident acted all nice and apologetic, but she continued to be a mega-bitch during calls. Then again, calls are stressful, no matter who you're working with.

Anyway, the best I can say is that you won't have to deal with this kind of crap next year. Rehab is better that I even imagined :)

Maria, of all of us you toally get the shaft. How do you do it....it sounds SO miserable from your blog...and after you described that patient you consulted ortho on, I was super excited I didn't have JUST that patient, not to mention the ten other super sick/crazy people you had!
I'm sorry chica, so this is an internet hug (not as good as the real thing, but hope it helps).
Love you,
Lacey
