===peristaltor Just put up an excellent essay that ties together some stuff I have known about (but I had not seen the later brain-scan study, that is FASCINATING, but makes a lot of sense to me) The thing that most grabs my attention in this is the parts of the brain that go active to deal with the dissonance. Beyond Priming: Using Conformity To Shape Society
===One factor I would add in is that most "liberals" tend to fall into a cognitive trap that social parasites grab onto and use to great effect: they want to be "fair". So, when they walk into a situation that has someone upset about being manipulated, and the manipulator saying they are just being misunderstood....they will try to take the "fair" mindset, and overbalance. In trying to be "fair", they treat the sources of information equally. The assumption is good faith and that everyone is trying to get to the best solution.  The problem?  One side things the best solution is a zero-sum game.  The "mediator" is a tool of the side that wants it to be a zero-sum game unless they call them on it.

===It should be noted that I consider a lot of what the "right wing conservative" is doing as much more of a social parasite modality.  They want to open up the rights of parasites everywhere, rather than work towards actually trying to make the ecology so there is less drag on resources.  They want to optimise their feed.
