I'm over 2000 words and 7 pages in and it's almost pure smut. I'm loving this. *grin* Though it's very frustrating trying to write porn while staying at one's parents' house for the weekend... there's nowhere private here for me to write (my old room no longer has a desk, so it's either the kitchen table or the desk in the living room downstairs. Maybe a virus in one of the files you carry over. Do any of them execute code?

So yeah, if all of the files you carry over do not execute code, then it's unlikely that it's a virus (unless one of the websites you regularly visit installs one). Usually, a virus needs to be run in order to infect a system; it's harmless if it's just there on your hard drive otherwise.

If you haven't installed the proper driver for your video controller, do that. It's one of the things that you don't want to not do.

Barring that, it's probably a piece of hardware that's giving out. We've already ruled out that it's not your hard drive, so it's probably something else (i.e., RAM, processor, motherboard component, or video card would be my guesses).
