Lemme know what you think...

I've been asked to write a poem for the youth service coming up. This is something I've been messing around with. Check it out and let me know what you think, what you get from it personally.
By the way, the service is bringing across how to believe in something you dont see.

I am no good for this one. Not enough of a believer to be able to critique.

I will say kudos to you just for writing it.

Thanks.. ria85 September 28 2005, 16:06:20 UTC
I think you could critique it better than anyone...
The fact that you are not a full fledged believer gives me an idea of where I could go with it to get you to start maybe considering it more...
Help me kind of pin point things that I havent touched on....

HELP!

To start well.. the whole poem bit is a little beyond me. Believing in something you can't see is a hard concept to sell in any form, it's especially hard with poems. Also coming from me now as well as me as a youngster, that was just too many words to hold my attention ( ... )

It seems as though you've seen Peace. So you already know where Peace lies...within yourself. Peace lies within that breeze, Peace lies within the silence, Peace is up to you! You haven't sold me. Through use of imagery you've painted a beautiful portrait of a beautiful world around a troubled spirit who is too blind by faith to realize that peace is all around her just because and is giving thanks to something that she is not even sure exists for it. Thank yourself, thank your fellow man. Blame yourself, blame your fellow man. For it is in your hands that creation will be left in and it will be of your hands that this world crumbles. Alpha and Omega, Ying and Yang, Chaos and Order. No God Involved..and if there is, try and sell it, I'm open. I'm an open book to all your knowledge. Before you preach your dogma to this youth group visit www.undojesus.org and research. Also, look up Mithraism, I'm sure you'll be shocked at what you find..and remember Religion will be the fall of our race, just as it was in during the ( ... )

thank you marcus... ria85 September 29 2005, 16:20:09 UTC
I respect your honest.
One thing though....I'm not trying to sell my faith to anyone. Not trying to pressure it or talk people into it. For me God does all that He has to and He cause the heart to soften to Him...so no matter what I do...whether or not I chose to talk til I turn blue in the face about God. It wont matter because He has nothing to prove...
You have to know Him and see for yourself.

I'm a sinner saved by grace.
I'm what He allows me to be.

:o)

Thank you

Stupid crusades. sgtkitten September 29 2005, 17:03:40 UTC
Which is one of my major problems with organized religion. Faith is good if it gives you peace. The part about it that isn't good is when people take it to the point that they use it as an excuse to hate and even kill others.

u know....... thisisrel September 29 2005, 21:15:45 UTC
im no historian or anything like that, but it seems to me, that the majority of times in history from what i've read it was politicians disguised as religious leaders to hide there motives in overtaking land, power, the people, or all of the above.....absolute power corrupts absolutely nah mean.......but in the end God is still God and it is what it is.......but thats what I see, and like i said i'm no historian.......all that reading bores the shit out of me, so i could never be
