there's a spiritualist church right arounhd the corner from where i work that's in full effect. the spiritualist church must still be pretty popular in mass - that's a cool thing.

I did look up the NCAS (national spiritualist association directory) but perhaps the chuch doesn't belong to it. I really would appreciate knowing. thank you much.

i can do ya one better - here's their homepage.

they had a sign in the window back in may that announced an upcoming event. i can't remember what it was, but it promised "SEANCES - MEDIUMS - BAKE SALE" and that just warmed the cockles of my heart. :)

once in Springfield I got accosted by a trio of unsmiling girls about twelve, passing out anti-Halloween Jack Chick tracts. the concern the tracts showed about the dangers of Halloween seemed to conflict with the real life danger their parents had placed them in by making them ready pedo-bait. standing around on the sidewalk, talking to strange adults.

anyway, I did come across that church before. that also will remain closed until September.

however a spiritualist church in New Hampshire has services all year 'round and on Wednesday has classes to how to channel spirits. wonder if I can get up there without a car.

the Wikipedia article explain that you simply pray, wait for two hours or more for the voices to manifest and keep on doing this regularly.

the fact that this tradition has quietly kept on going doing their thing for a hundred years or more fascinates me.

much like snake handlers or the Memnonites I came across in Boston today.
