1. Yesterday my girlfriend and I went into Chicago to have brunch with her cousin. While we were there, we decided to take one of the architectural river cruises. It was nice, but I would suggest skipping it if you're a tourist because the cost -- $40 -- was exorbitant. You could easily grab a map at the boat tour place and instead get on the river

The tour was 90 minutes long, and it was okay, although I would have preferred more history to architecture. The docent lady leading it was good. But still, it was way expensive and I bet if you went online before you went there you may have gotten cheaper tickets. But my GF talked me into it. I liked the ride.

They had a whole department for olive oil. It was all broken into sections of food you could buy and cooking utensils and books and fresh food. It was like a food IKEA but Italian, LOL

I absolutely loved the architecture cruises. I've taken them twice, once last year, and another time just two weeks ago when I was at Chicago with coworkers attending a former coworker's wedding. We also went to Eataly! We ran in to get dessert, and was utterly charmed by how cute the food court is. We didn't go upstairs. But yes, it is overpriced. I did get a panini and given the amount of proscuitto in my massive pannini, I thought it wasn't *that* bad.

The pizza was good, but like everything in a big city it's overpriced. We got gelato on the way out, and that was good as well. I'm just poor and therefore cheap right now, LOL

What a clear day! Ugh, so jealous. Looks like lots of fun. Glad you two got to have a bit of a trip! (Even if it's not a trip because you didn't really go anywhere. Shhh.)

While we were there we figured we should do *something* instead of go home right away. We rarely do much on the weekends.
