Thanks, babe. As crazy as it sounds, all the classes I'm taking are one day deals. Saturdays from 9 am to 4 pm. Really! I hope the teacher is good, otherwise I'm going to have trouble processing and retaining all that information.
I've always been a slow writer, which is a detriment to this kind of self-employment because in order to get people to buy your ebooks you need to have a sizable catalogue so people can find you. If they read one and like it, they'll buy more. You need to release 3-4 stories a month, ideally to build the catalogue and keep your author name out there.
Chances are, though, that if my Big Bang I wrote in 2010 still gets hits and feedback every day still, an original story I write should get purchased at least once!
It's not for college credit, it's only Continuing Education, which means hopefully I can get a certificate out of it. If not, it's pretty much paying to add some stuff to my resume. But it's worth it I guess just to get the training I need and that maybe will get me a damn job. Yeah, I hope I can get everything to sink in enough in a one-day class!
I've been trying with this self-publishing thing, but my main issue is that I am terrible at self-motivation. I'd rather lie around all day, LOL, instead of trying to write. Ugh. I need to find a way to make a schedule and stick to it, which is hard when you don't have deadlines.
I have to complete all the requirements to get the certificate, and right now I'm two classes short because one of them I need, Java, conflicts with other stuff. And I think the next time they offer Java is next summer. So I may wind up not even getting the certificate.
I am sorry that you won't be getting unemployment, it's unfair, but you are right, karma will catch up with him. Good luck on the courses and the publishing. I am sure that good things are going to start coming your way. HUGS.
Fuck that dude that you can't get unemployment because he is a sexist asshole and needed the fire to reign down on him for some of that shit he pulled with you! Ugh.
But yay on continuing your education. It sucks but with computers these days, you have to know every new little thing that comes out, the minute it comes out or you are considered 'out of date' and that is such bull. But getting some courses under your belt will definitely help. Good luck, babe!
(Um, spelled the word 'computers' as 'CUMputers' for a second there. lol)
I haven't received the letter saying I won't be getting my money, but I'm anticipating it. I just want to get it over with and move on, y'know? That bastard has had too much influence over me as it is.
I do hope the classes help. They're all going to be taught by the same professor. I hope she's good!

And I hope you get the chance to work on your original writing. That could really work well for you, I think, with your talents.
