What's happenin'

I got my first check on Friday, a result of fruitful labor. Labor! So exciting. As I started in the middle of a pay week it's two days short, which means the next paycheck will be bigger and will allow me to guesstimate how much I'll actually be taking home every two weeks. I have to take my girlfriend out for a celebratory meal with all this cold ( Read more... )

Hopefully you can work through the pain in your arm, once it gets used to the work.

I am also sick of the cold, though it hasn't been as bad here as there this winter. We did have a long run of highs in the mid-teens, which was bad enough!

It was -17 today with a wind chill of -32. That's in Fahrenheit! Ugh.

My arm is feeling a bit better.

I hope it's nothing serious. I had something similar in my hands, it turned out that I had mild tendonitis from using the cash register all day.

I have been watching the news about the record snowfalls and temperature drops over there. Stay safe, and once again, hugs and congrats for the new job. Hugs.

It's probably a pinched nerve or something. My fingers are still tingly.

It's going to be cold again tomorrow too, with temperatures down in the negative numbers. I'll be glad to have 30s again!

I bet you will be. :-) The weathers been downright odd here although nothing on the scale of what you have been experiencing. One day it's scorching, the next it's like winter, it's been crazy, not like summer at all.
Try and stay warm and take care.

I recommend getting yourself an elbow brace and seeing if that helps at all. The pinkie and ring finger on my left hand were once numb/tingly for an entire year due to nerve damage in my elbow - I kept waiting for it to fix itself, but it never did. Then I sought medical help, which came to nothing at all - after my doctor made me have a whole lot of pointless tests done, I finally tried wearing an elbow brace full time, only taking it off to shower. I only had to wear it for a week before my fingers completely returned to normal and I haven't had a single problem with them since. I'm not saying it'll be the miracle cure for you that it was for me, but it can't hurt to try.

I'm going to try that, next time we're at Walmart or wherever. That might actually help, because I feel like my fingers tingle worse when my arm is bent.

Good luck with the snow & cold. It's been snowing steadily here in the Detroit area since noon. I'm planning to go out around 5:00 and shovel whether or not the snow has stopped. I figure shoveling 6 inches twice will be less effort than 11 inches all at once.

No suggestions on the pain or tingling. Although I think I'd try the elbow brace someone else suggested.

And yay for being employed again!

I went out yesterday while it was still snowing to clean off my car and shovel out a bit, since I didn't want to do it in the -17 temperatures of this morning. Good thing I did, too, because it took a few tries to get the car going.

Oh geez, -17. We had -9 this morning and "just" -6 yesterday afternoon. I went out to shovel again and lasted only 25 minutes. Even with leather thinsulate-insulated gloves my hands felt frost-bitten.

LOL, this morning we had -11 and my car wouldn't start. So I had to walk! Ugh. I was dressed for it of course but it still made for a terrible way to start my morning. Luckily I'm close enough that I can walk. The wind chill was -20, much warmer than yesterday!

Hmm. Have you tried ibprofen? Or get a massage? It'll definitely do you no good in that job if you can never sleep!

And yeah, Chicago gets bad. Just imagine if you were up in Fargo! Stay warm, hun.

Every time anything hurts it's ibuprofen. When it comes to cramps, I eat that shit like candy. It's the only thing that helps. I also have the kind that's ibuprofen with PM sleep aid. That's helped in the past.

My body is getting more used to the every day constant moving. It's good for me for exercise.
