My mom passed at 88 from the complications of 5 years of Dementia and Alzheimer's. I was her care-giver every single day, for 27 months! I was able to retire and keep her at home.
I understand how we want to keep them with us, but the tragedy of the disease... and the release from it was a blessing for her. She suffered a lot, the last 8 months.
As for my Dad, he passed just short of his 70th with multi complications. If you go to my journal, rymrytr you can read the poem I made for him, a few months before he left us. It's titled "To and For My Dad". :o)
