It's cold, windy and raining. Time to block up draughts and sit in front of the fire. 'Course, it doesn't help that dad's been trying to varnish/repair our window frames, which means there are draughts in several rooms.

I've become addicted again to the Sims 2. I do have slightly more time for it, I suppose, now the thesis is merely on " ( Read more... )

I am BEYOND excited at the idea of you writing creatively again!!! ♥

You need to begin your world tour, see other venues... and THEN write about them. ;)
And, I shall kidnap you and force you to read and critique my work, heheh. *spasms*
The insight you gave me with what little you critiqued for me many moons ago still lives in my head. *kidnaps you*

But yes! Write! Write anything!! Even if the location makes no sense!! At least you'll be writing!! :D

The setting could stay in the background, with a detail thrown in here and there for the sake of realism.

Hmm... It could work cos the story's set largely in a rural community similar to my own home area, where the violent sectarian stuff is irrelevent (mind you, it's irrelevent to 99-odd% of the population anyway, urban or rural). It's just that there are certain "expectations" with a Northern Ireland-set story which I'm not interested in dealing with. The story needs a lot more work and structuring before I put pen to paper, though. Thanks for the advice; somehow, it just felt good to share :)
