I met up with Ruth and LJ last night for pizza and cinema. We saw The Brothers Grimm. I really enjoyed it; I loved spotting the folklore and mythology references: Little Red Riding Hood, Sleeping Beauty, Rumpelstiltskin, The Princess and the Pea, girls disguised as boys, talking animals, Rapunzel, The Snow Queen, Ophelia from Hamlet, Cinderella,

Eeee! Brothers Grimm! I don't think the movie was a typically wonderful Terry Gilian movie (Forgive me if I spelled his name wrong, too lazy to look it up), but it puts me in SUCH a folklore mood. I can't wait for the DVD!

This being my first Gilliam movie (I've only seen excerpts of Life of Brian, so it doesn't count), I had nothing to compare it to. But yes, folklore, yay! And I thought it really enforced the fact that fairy tales are damn dangerous places to live! Sky Three is currently re-running The Tenth Kingdom as well, so I'm on a fairy tale high :D
