Honestly was also hoping for a girl. Don't get me wrong though it is good that both mom and baby are doing well, that the baby is healthy. A girl would have just been awesome.

I think it's partly because the rules of succession were changed recently to allow women to be heirs apparent insted of just heirs presumptive, and it would have been cool to have a real live girl to point to and say, "She's going to be queen someday :D" Most of our best known and most popular monarchs have been female; Britain seems to do particularly well with a woman on the throne ;)
