Someone that I know on DW and Tumblr is looking for a place to live in Northampton or Amherst ASAP, for her and her genderfriend. They've looked at some places and rooms from craigslist already and things have not been positive...they do need to be in Noho/Amherst due to transportation stuff, though

Ouch. Having apartment hunted in the valley at times when there wasn't a massive student exodus, I can say positively that it sucks balls.

What is their price range? it may be worth paying a little extra to have an agent looking for something for them, but they usually demand a finder's fee. That said, the apartments tend to be nicer than what ends up on Craigslist. For Northampton I would recommend Holt Real Estate on Hawley street, I've worked with them twice to find apartments and the experience was well worth the extra money.

EDIT: I'm also guessing the transportation issue cited is that they don't have a car, am I right? They may also want to try Hadley and Sunderland, as both those places are on the PVTA and service remains pretty consistent through the summer.

Aye, they don't have a car and don't drive either. I'll pass this info on--I'm not sure what their price range is, exactly.
