How solid and how blond is Bonnie? Because I keep thinking Paula Malcomson who was on Deadwood and Sons of Anarchy this season. But i think that might just be the period connection? Although, she is a blond with a steel spine :b

I did have that thought! But she looks younger than 40 and there's got to be younger pictures! How old was she on Deadwood...because I have all three seasons and could totally be persuaded to cap.

I hate Gatsby and I think part of what fuels my white hot eternal rage at it is how DEVOTED Gatsby fans are. They wax rhapsodic and I want to barf.

He's one of those people I actually trust to be able to disagree like a goddamn adult so if you want to start that flamewar discussion, I think it could be interesting!

Thing is, I've READ pretty much everyone on his list, with varying pleasure - I will always love me some William Gibson but I think that is in part due to how much his writing meant to me when I was in high school. I was young and easily influenced! *grin*

I have been thinking about it since your DW comment re: Lethem... I think I just don't like the way he writes women at all. And I think he is VERY much into a hipster post-irony kind of thing that I just don't enjoy. It's like a better dressed David Foster Wallace or something.
