Our beloved and elderly cats, Merlin and Ford, died in January. We weren't planning on cats again so soon, but these kittens spoke to us.
We're going to start toilet training them in a couple weeks. This Litter Kwitter product looks good and makes a lot of sense.

I know that cats can use a toilet because one of my old cats, Snowball trained himself to use the toilet years ago. We couldn't figure out who wasn't flushing until we caught him on the bowl.
That lasted a few weeks until I saw him slip and fall in one time and made the mistake a laughing. That was it. His dignity was offended and he never used the toilet again. (We had to keep the litter box for the other cat, so he just went back to using that)

That story about Snowball is hilarious! Only a cat would refuse to ever again do what had worked in the past because of shattered dignity. :) I have actually heard of this cat-toilet-training thing before. We even considered it briefly after getting Julius. However, his Bengal breed fascination with all things water made that impossible. He was so small when we got him, we had to keep all the toilet lids safely closed at all times, for fear he would fall in and drown. Now we just have to keep them closed for fear he will get toilet water everywhere as he plays. :|
