Well, see, Mark just got back from his annual three week trip to Japan. And like most years, I didn't have time to be bored while he was gone. I hadn't watched the anime of Airbender, but I've just hated reading about what they've done to the characters and the setting. It's ridiculous, and after reading the interviews that M. Shyamalan is giving I am torn between thinking he deserves everything that is coming to him and being frustrated that he's such a perfect target for the studios to hide behind.

On Aribender: unfortunately, in this case I'm not so sure he is a scapegoat for the studios to hide behind. It's my understanding that he had pretty complete creative control. He wrote, directed, and produced the movie. He cast it himself. Honestly, if not for James Newton Howard's excellent score and ILM's gorgeous effects, I don't know that I would've been able to sit through the movie.

I'm very afraid the author will solve this problem by killing one of them off in the third book. :(
