Tea dyeing

I'm making myself new pirate garb, and to that end I spent part of my weekend tea dying dyeing some fabric

I read your title and wondered WHY the tea was dying and what kind of death tea might expect... English is a pest of a language...

Which is why the act of using dye on fabric is generally known as dyeing...

(English is a pest because it requires so much tricky spelling!)
