Halloween Masquerade!

Okay, so as you might imagine, this will be a pretty picture heavy post. Yes, I had to sew all day Friday, but I did finish both my costume and Mark's. The fabulous kistha was literally my saving grace for styling the wig. I don't know what I would have done had she not been there. She also did my make up. Which turned out AWESOME ( Read more... )

Lovely! I can't believe people make costumes like this, says the woman who can't sew a button.

Erm, I was gonna guess top hat guy as the man from Monopoly, I don't know what his wife is in relation to that.

Cabbage-face dude I think is somebody from Baker's Doctor Who, it was a Leela episode. He was rich. I hate being over 40.

Ooooh, good guess with the monopoly piece! But, no. And while I screech "LEELA!!" (Tom Baker was my favorite Doctor for years, and still is, really, despite my love for the new series.) Again, that's not it.

Hmm. Perhaps I should give hints. Shawn (in the top hat) really could have added a paunch to his costume to make it that extra perfect. And as for the other. Hmm. I'm not sure what hint to give that wouldn't instantly give it away...

Squee! You all look AMAZING. I love the picture that you've used for your icon.

At first I thought dthon was a Green Man, but then I saw there were bunches of grapes on the mask and all I could think of was Bacchus/Dionysus, especially since he's wearing a wine-coloured shirt.

As for the b-in-l, I, too, thought he was the dude from Monopoly, but then it struck me that with the brolly, he reminded me more of the Penguin from the Batman comics--a much slimmer Penguin. Hee. (Although, dude! In the first picture of him with Mark and dthon I was all like, OMG! Rhien's sister is married to Robert Carlyle?!)

Yay! I'm so glad you won prizes. You totally deserve it for all your hard work and the fabulous results.

*ding*ding*ding*

You are correct! Shawn (my b-in-l) was the Penguin! My sister was a dove, specifically, though they simply called her "the bird" when she won the Best Overall.

And yes, dthon was Bacchus. Nice catch on the wine colored shirt! :)

ETA: Oh, and thanks! My friend L took the pics of me. The one I used for my icon isn't pictured here, but it's almost exactly like the other profile one, except my eyes are looking at the person with the camera, instead of straight ahead.

Oh man, I am so amazed by these. I'm desperate to know who those two gents are dressed as! Especially the vineyard in the face, that's...kind of amazing. Your costume came out beautifully, I'm so glad you had a good time. :D

aka_paloma got it up above. The Penguin and Bacchus.

My friend kistha makes custom masks, and she made the Bacchus mask for her husband - it's actually the first one she ever attempted, years ago, if you can believe it! dthon reports it is shockingly comfortable to wear. :D

Great pictures! Will look for them in my inbox tonight!

It will make the husband cranky, but I think after looking at the pictures, next time I'm going to make him have some green makeup in the eye area, so that it doesn't flash so white.

The candid shot is so cute! (Reminder to self: Need to buy giant bobby-pins.)
